Back Stronger Than a 90s Trend

Wow, it’s been a minute since I took a break from shooting so let me introduce myself! My name is Jessica Mauss and I’ve been a photographer for over 10 years. Growing up I never thought I was artistic in the least but I took my first photography class in my 30s because I wanted to learn how to use my camera. Imagine my absolute surprise when I discovered that I was good at it! Believe me, no one was more shocked than me! I continued taking classes for a few years and continue my education to this day by reading and learning online. I think one of the reasons I gravitated to photography so much is I am a natural storyteller. If you’ve ever had a conversation with me you’re probably laughing because I always have a story to tell about any given topic. I love being able to pick up the camera to create and capture a narrative. From long planned out sessions to quick mini sessions, each frame documents your family’s story that lasts forever.

A few years ago, I was working so hard at building my business that I burned myself out. Life circumstances added to that and I decided I needed a break. Last year I started thinking about what I would do differently if I were to start again and one of the things I decided to do was to not limit myself just to one kind of art. I’ve been a crafter since I was very young and I wanted to give myself permission to craft when I feel artistic and can’t- or don’t want- to go outside and shoot photos (think summer here in Az!). That’s when I decided to combine both my loves to expand my ability to create and document stories. I can’t wait to get started sharing quick inspirational videos and longer tutorial videos to pass that love to others.

So I’m excited to embark on this journey and I hope you’ll come along with me and enjoy the ups and downs that I know will inevitably come with it. I can’t wait to introduce you to my partner-in-crime, my better half to my dynamic duo, and my soul mate who was ready and excited to come along on this journey with me.
